No Stargazing today.

The shop will be open as normal today until 4pm.

Lisa is at home poorly and I’m in work but dosing up on flu tablets and sore throat sweets. I didn’t think it was a very good idea to stand in a cold damp field with a high temperature. I’ll just have to watch it on tv instead.

King Cole rep Debbie and her big boss have been for a visit today and lots of lovely wool has been put on order including Baby Comfort DK in 50g balls. This is so you can create the new stripey baby patterns without having to buy 100g balls of each color.

Details of the new seasons colours and yarns will be starting to to be released over the next month from most of the yarn companies so watch this space.

Cold snap

It is freezing today my little hands aren’t getting warm at all.

I had started thinking about knitting 4ply spring top but I’ve abandoned that and I’m debabting about a long jumper in either Adriafil Mistero chunky, James Brett DK Merino or King Cole Baby alpaca DK.

I currently have 3 garments that just need finishing touches.

1. Adriafil  Lunaire long chunky tank top – only needs two armhole ribs completing (should be finished tonight )

2. Stylecraft Life Super Chunky long cardie. – only needs arms sewing in and bands knitting. (hoping for the end of the week)

3. Adriafil Super Chunky Mito Jumper – this needs arms knitting and then the dreaded sewing up.

I did complete 3 scarves yesterday – A glittery ladder necklet and two Katia Triana scarves.

This time I used two differant Triana yarns at the same time. This method was more fiddly but the scarf is much thicker and I only had to use 4 stitches.  I completed a fab lime green and black scarf and a seriously seriously pink one that clashes fantastically with my hair colour.

Birthday Party Report and Thank You

I’ve just had a fantastic evening at the first birthday party for the shop.

Veronica Shaw joined us and shared with us her creative journey and brought lovely things for us to see including the famous cowl. I got loads of ideas I just need more hours in a day to complete them all now. Thank you so much Veronica and I’m looking forward to getting some workshops into the diary!!!!!

Thanks to everyones generosity there was a fantastic spread of food. Sue’s cheese and onion pie was just fabulous i’m staying away from the scales for a while though.

Nicola who couldn’t be with us this evening made a wonderful birthday cake complete with knitting and a ball of wool in icing. Plus a chocolate cake that everyone enjoyed.

My Uncle John was  the offical photgrapher and took lots of pics which I’ll upload to the site.

Janet, Sandra, my Aunt Helen and my Mum spent a long time in the kitchen making sure everyone was fed, watered and the washing up was done. A big thank you to them.

The evening flew by far too fast.

Rita & Jean mentioned making arrangments for  the Christmas party on their way out!!!! lol

Thank you to everyone who came along it was a brilliant way to celebrate the end of my first year in the shop.

On a personal note :-

I’ve enjoyed every minute of the past year and I feel very blessed and lucky to have such a wonderful group of ladies in my knit and natter groups. You certinally know how to have fun (Pat’s mucky jokes lol).

Plus you are a support not only to each other but to me too. Some strong friendships have been created during knit and natter and that is amazing to see.

Thank you to all my customers and Knit and Natterers for a brilliant year. You are all stars.

Name change

As part of the birthday celebrations I’ve decided to launch the new name for the shop at the same time.

When I bought the business I bought the name as well and it doesn’t really apply any more.

We don’t just stock only  ’designer’ yarns but a wide range of yarns now that is ever expanding. I also intend  to expand my stock into other areas which makes the name even less applicable. I decided that now would be a good time to rename / relaunch the business with a name of my choice that is much more appropriate.

I’ve ordered the new business cards,

Website is in process of changing over (don’t worry website technical guy will redirect from this site)

New sign is on its way.

New shop name is Pendle Stitches
